For a long time now, it had all been the same,
A shade of black and white, stretched across the land.
No colour had existed, no spark,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
Life went on as per norm,
Work and necessities taking up the only spaces.
Fun and joy seemed irrelevant,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
Not once had a toe stepped out of line,
Not once had the mind even imagined anything askew,
And not once had the heart yearned,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
Life had seemed to make perfect sense,
It was a world of routine after all,
So when change came along, it had taken her breath away,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
A spark of something, seemingly from no where.
A spark full of light, light that brought colour,
Colour that blinded her for a second,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
And with it, colour brought more,
Joy and Fun and more, with colour came life,
Almost like a mast coming off and revealing the truth,
For it had all been a mask on the emotionless land.
