One of the films that came out recently that I absolutely loved was Pyaar Prema Kadhal starring Harish Kalyan and Raiza Wilson (of Big Boss Tamil season 1 fame) in the lead roles.
After a few films that didn’t do so well in the box office, this was definitely a career turner for Harish Kalyan. Despite releasing alongside Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam 2, the movie did very well in the box office with a lot of positive responses.
Directed by Elan and Yuvan Shankar Raja doing the music, the film was expected to be a hit right from the release of the motion poster, the super hit of the single by Sid Sriram and a very upbeat in trend trailer.
There’s always been the habit of a movie not turning out that great after a series of pre-release hits, but this film definitely stood up to expectations and came out as an extremely entertaining movie.
With a very casual and light-hearted romance story as the crux, the film follows the story of Sree and Sindhuja, two completely opposite characters who fall in love and try to find common ground and a life together.
Elan does an outstanding job with the direction bringing in twists to the story when you least expect it, keeping the entire thing casual, engaging with the audience and managing to not be predictable.
Editing by S. Manikumaran and cinematography by Raja Bhattacharjee compliments the film perfectly with the music uplifting the experience to the next level. Harish Kalyan portrays his role perfectly while Raiza Wilson does quite well for her debut role.
A bit more of an emotional connect might have done wonders for the film, but as such is definite watch with loads of fun parts, romantic scenes and a great storyline to enjoy.
I’d give it a 4/5 and definitely ask you to go watch it once.
