Hours after she had left,
With nothing but the one little keepsake,
A pocket watch for old times sake,
She finally stopped to look back,
Look back at a life far away!
Nothing remained of what had once been her life,
A place she had called home,
A place to love, a place to belong,
Unlike now walking alone,
Walking to find something new!
The sight in front of her,
The village in the distance,
Houses that crowded together,
Defining the mountains afar,
A life she had left behind!
All left now was to hope,
Hope for a better future than the past,
Alone with a fire in her heart,
Only a passion to do better,
To do better than the life of the past!
A life she had left far away,
And a life she hoped to build from scratch,
For nothing could stand in her way,
Her way to take back everything lost,
And build for herself a life, A life that would be her own!
