Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (Film), A Review…

About two months after it’s release, I finally had the chance to watch ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ last week on Netflix, and I’m definitely glad I did.

Directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and Rajkummar Rao in the leadership positions with other great actors like Regina Cassandra and Akshay Oberoi in supporting roles. With cinematography by Himman Dhamija and Editing by Ashish Suryavanshi, the film has brought together a star cast in a brilliant story and a fun film.

Romance stories these days are often cliched and the usual love story between a guy and girl who are pretty much opposites. It hasn’t been much different in the Indian film industry. This movie, however, was a bit different and even refreshing. This film is an unconventional love story that brings a great story to the limelight in an easily acceptable way.

The film begins in the usual set up where a girl and a boy meet, the boy falls in love and follows the girl to see if it works out. What he doesn’t expect is for them to become friends. And even when he thinks she loves someone else, what he definitely doesn’t expect is that someone else is also a girl. And then things twist and turn in the story getting the film to a place where the guy ends up helping the girl. It’s a simple story that can definitely happen in real life put forth in a beautiful realistic way that creates awareness and makes an impact.

While the second half of the film gets a bit predictable, it stays light-hearted and sensitive. Brilliant performance by all the actors, great comical add-ons every now and then and brilliant direction does a great job in pulling the film together. Writing by Gazal Dhaliwal highlights the film and brings it through beautifully.

Every now and then, the film, unfortunately, has a few restless moments. But if you could just put up with it, it’s a great film with a beautiful cute story. A beautiful setting with great cinematography accentuates the film perfectly.

A enjoyable must-watch for all ages. I’d give this film a 4/5.
