Planning a Trip to Edinburgh, Your Ultimate Guide, Part 3: Shopping…

Right, so there really is no traveling to a new place without going there and shopping. This, of course, is irrespective of whether its clothes shopping, shoe shopping, gift shopping or well, even window shopping!

Well, thankfully, Edinburgh really does not disappoint in this regard! It would, of course, be impossible for me to mention everything, but here’s the list of everything you shouldn’t miss!

1. The Royal Mile

A mile-long road that stretches all the way up to the Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile is a street littered with shops, restaurants and bars and just a touch of history! A beautiful casual walk, especially if you’re looking for souvenirs, this is one of the important spots in the city that’ll you definitely have to visit at least once!

 

2. Grassmarket

A historic marketplace located in the older part of Edinburgh, Grassmarket is located almost directly below the Edinburgh Castle, close to the city center with great restaurants, cobbled streets, great architecture and plenty of great and really good shopping!

3. Victoria Street

One of the most photographed location in Edinburgh, Victoria Street in Old Town Edinburgh is a simple curved street with several stores, medieval architecture and great photo opportunities. A definitely must see location even if you only plan on doing Window Shopping!

 

 

4. Princes Street

One of the more famous locations in the city, Princes St is a busy, long street filled with stores to shop from, monuments to look at and restaurants to eat at! A stretch of both branded and local stores, this is the place to go if you want some nice branded items or, if you’re looking for cheaper local products and even souvenirs.

5. George Street

One of the central streets in New Town Edinburgh, George St played host to the 2016 Christmas Market. With several important statues located along the street, George Street is littered with a few stores, several restaurants, several monuments and sightseeing spots. It is definitely one of the more important streets to take a walk down when you visit the beautiful city!

 

6. Waverly Mall

Right next to the train station, the Waverly Mall is one of the first things you’ll probably see in Edinburgh. Located at the east end of Princes St, the mall is filled to the brim with all the latest brands and some great shopping if you’re looking for it and of course, a great way to spend time if you’re looking to while away some time!

 

 

7. Chrismas Market

Well, if you’re lucky enough to visit Edinburgh around Christmas time, the Christmas market is, of course, a must see! With a wide variety of options from Cashmere shawls to beautiful decorative pieces, pretty jewelry and much more, there’s no chance that you’ll come back from the visit empty handed! And of course, the availability of plenty of tasty food definitely does add to the ambiance and put you in a happy mood!
