Thinking back now, I seem to be a complete movie spree. Move halfway across the globe and maybe you’ll start too.
So a couple days back, I went into town with my friends to watch a movie. Chosen by the majority, we watched, ‘Jigsaw’.
I haven’t watched any of the films in the ‘Saw Franchise’ so far, so this was my first time. But, I had heard about the movies and knew what to expect.
All in all, the film follows the story of a serial killer killing 5 selected people for moral reasons while giving them a chance at atonement. Or at least, that is what we are led to believe. The puzzle is set, the police notified, and all that’s left to do is, solve the puzzle, save the victims, catch the killer.
But what is everything you know so far, is wrong. What if there aren’t actually 5 victims. What if the killer is not the actual killer?
Well, you’ll have to watch the movie to find out.
As such, the movie is definitely worthwhile with all the jump scares, all the gore and all the puzzle pieces you’ll expect.
Direction by The Spierig Brothers stands out and takes the movie through. Screenplay by Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldfinger compliment the direction perfectly. Cinematography by Ben Nott and Music by Charlie Clouser succeed in making the film experience much more realistic and interesting. Editing by Kevin Greutert shows no awkward flaws and takes the film on the perfect pace.
But of course, performance by Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Cle Bennett, Hannah Emily Anderson and the rest of the cast take the movie to the next level.
Overall, I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I’d give it a 4/5.
